English lessons at CHIS are taught by a dedicated and innovative local and "native-speaker " teaching staff who believe that motivation and interest are essential factors in the learning process. One of our main goals is to cultivate a love of language learning while developing students confidence and invaluable communication skills.
The CHIS English program is a multi-layered, topic-based approach which includes thorough and wide-ranging work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, as well as developing listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills. The themes and topics are relevant to each age group and work to enable students to carry out extensive “real-world“ communication. Students are taught that effective communication requires sensitivity to cultural and social factors and that a tolerance for and respect of different cultures is as important al linguistic factors.
The syllabus is structured in a way that compensates for and adjust to students of all ability and skills levels. Through a variety of instructional methods, teachers create lessons that develop and form problem-solving, critical, and analytical thinking skills. Project work, pair work, and group work are employed to help foster learner responsibility and independence, improve motivation, and contribute to sense of cooperation in the class.
Our approach to language learning and education equips our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to realize their full potential.
